Preston started a busy December month on 25 points, which a tricky trip to Sheffield Wednesday to start the month. A funny game, which saw Preston lose 2-1 but more notably the sending off of Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle for fighting amongst themselves. A game that got Preston international coverage  for all the wrong reasons.

Blackburn Rovers visited Preston on December 10th

A Lancashire derby followed the trip across the Pennines with Blackburn Rovers visiting Deepdale, which was shown live on Sky Sports. A confident 3-2 win gave Preston the bragging rights in Lancashire.

Nottingham Forest was the next destination for Preston on a Wednesday night. An average game in which if chances were taken Preston would have won comfortably, however a share of the spoils is all that were brought home from Nottingham after a 1 -1 draw.

A trip to Bristol City saw Preston their last win of 2016. A late goal from Johnson saw
Preston take 3 points home in a 2-1 victory over fellow 2015 promotion winners.

Leeds United came to Deepdale on Boxing Day which saw the visitors comfortably beat the hosts 4-1 in a festive fixture to forget for Preston and Jermaine Beckford who was sent off for the second time in a month.

reverse fixture of the season. With former loanee Adam Reach scoring a last minute equaliser for Wednesday.

Notably, the FA Cup third round was drawn on December 5th with Preston drawing out Arsenal in the third round at Deepdale. The game is set to be shown live on BT Sports on January 7th.

All in all, December was a decent month for the boys in white scoring in every fixture, picking up 8 points in 6 games. Here is too an exciting 2017 starting with a trip to Burton Albion on January 2nd.
